Is There a Difficulty Trophy and Achievement in Mortal Kombat 11?
With Mortal Kombat 11 now released and out in the open, perspective completionists are probably asking: Is there a difficulty trophy and achievement in Mortal Kombat 11?
Unfortunately for them – or fortunately depending on how they look at it – the game doesn’t have any trophies or achievements tied to difficulty.
Instead, the game offers two trophies and achievements tied to the game’s story mode. One is unlocked after reaching the midway point of the story for the first time, while the other is unlocked after completing the story for the first time.
Past that, there aren’t any trophies tied to completing the game on a higher difficulty setting.
Why There Aren’t Difficulty Trophies and Achievements
The reason there aren’t difficulty trophies and achievements in Mortal Kombat 11 isn’t clear, but given the series’ history it’s little surprise.
from the first entry onward, Mortal Kombat has always been more about learning how to play the game well as opposed to altering its difficulty to best fit one’s play style.
While this meant forcing players to bang their heads against the walls that were more difficult opponents, and in some cases making the game inaccessible to certain players, it also meant players had to learn to play the game to the best of their ability.
This meant mastering the game’s combos, understanding its mechanics and otherwise playing it as much as possible to get a good grip on it.
Mortal Kombat 11 is no exception. While it may not require players to beat it on higher and higher difficulties, it does require them to understand the game’s mechanics to beat its story mode and unlock the trophies tied to it.
Hopefully, that cleared up whether Mortal Kombat 11 has difficulty trophies and achievements. For more on the game, check out our full review as well as our guide wiki for more tips, tricks and info.
