How to Solve the Sherry Puzzle in Resident Evil 2

The Resident Evil 2 remake puts us back in the shoes of Leon Kennedy and Claire Redfield, along with the two other supporting characters, Ada Wong and Sherry Birkin. Here’s how to solve the main puzzle you’ll come across in Sherry’s segment in Resident Evil 2.

You’ll only take control of Sherry when playing through Claire’s campaign. About halfway through, you’ll take control of the young girl in the orphanage. Your first order of business is to get out of the room.

Once you regain control of your character, check the room for a doll, then examine it to find a puzzle block. On the table nearby, you should see a wooden box puzzle that you can use the block on.

The tricky thing about the Sherry puzzle in Resident Evil 2 is that the block order seems to be randomized every time you play through this segment. Because of that, it’s not possible to provide an exact solution or a series of steps that you can follow to solve it each time.

The good news is that the final solution will always be the same, with the rightmost block pattern forming a triangle and a star. With that in mind, just look for the blocks with that same pattern and then line them up accordingly. Once all the top and front-facing patterns are matching, you’ll solve the puzzle.

If you’re trying to go for the Young Escapee achievement in Resident Evil 2, you need to solve the Sherry puzzle and get out of the room in 60 seconds.

As we mentioned before, the block order is randomized for each playthrough. However, it will not change between auto-saves. This means that you can solve the puzzle once, write down the solution and exact steps, then reload the auto-save to attempt it within 60 seconds.

And that’s all you need to know about how to solve the Sherry puzzle in Resident Evil 2. Be sure to check our Resident Evil 2 guide wiki for more tips and information on the game.
