How to Land Faster in PUBG

Getting to the ground first in PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG) is an important part of getting yourself prepared for any fight. Here’s how to land faster in PUBG, should you be having a hard time lasting out the first few minutes of a match.

There are a few things you need to consider in order to land faster in PUBG, many of which you can actually get sorted before you even set foot off the plane.

We’ve listed the entire process for how to land faster in PUBG below in bullet points, but we’ve broken it all down in a little more detail just down from that, should you need it.

  • Pick where you want to land and place a marker on your map.
  • Wait for the landing spot to be perpendicular to the plane before jumping out.
  • Use the Wave Technique on your descent to land faster in PUBG.

Pick Where You Want to Land and Place a Marker

This is actually a pretty important step in ensuring you land faster at your desired landing spot. To do this, you’ll first need to press M on PC to open your map. This equates to the View button on Xbox One, or the touchpad on PS4.

Upon doing this, you’ll then need to place a marker on your desired landing spot. Clicking the Right Mouse Button on PC will allow you to do this, while pressing down on the right analog stick (R3) will do the trick on Xbox One and PS4. Now that your marker is placed, it’s time to play a bit of a waiting game.

Jump Out as Your Landing Spot is Perpendicular to the Plane

This next bit is pretty important, because while skydiving to your landing spot is pretty speedy, it’s not quite as speedy as sticking in the plane for a little while longer. You want to essentially wait until the landing spot hits about a 90-degree angle to the plane as it passes by. This means you’re at the shortest possible distance that the plane is ever going to be at from your desired landing spot in PUBG.

Now, simply press the spacebar on PC, A on Xbox One, or X on PS4 to jump out of the plane. This is where things get a little confusing, as we talk you through the Wave Technique.

Use the Wave Technique to Land Fast and First in PUBG

  • Jump from the plane and press W on PC or up on the left analog stick on PS4 and Xbox One.
  • Use your mouse or right analog stick to have your character and camera facing the location you want to land at and then point downwards.
  • Move your mouse or right analog stick upwards to slow your fall for a brief second or two, before returning it downwards.
  • Repeat the last step three times until your parachute deploys for the fastest landing in PUBG.

The Wave Technique may initially sound counter-intuitive, as it involves diving full-tilt, before pulling back up, descending a little slower briefly, before diving full-tilt again. However, this is a tried and tested method used by pro players in order to ensure they land first in PUBG.

To do the Wave Technique, you’ll first need to jump from the plane. As soon as you’re falling, hold down the W key on PC, or press up on the left analog stick on PS4 and Xbox One.

While you’re doing this, you should be moving your mouse or right analog stick in order to have your character and camera facing the location you want to land at (normally downwards). Use that marker we placed on your map to quickly find it if you’re a little disorientated from hopping out the plane.

Next, you want to move your mouse or right analog stick upwards to slow your fall. This is only for a second or so, just enough to slow you down. Return your mouse or right analog stick to the downwards position to speed up your descent again.

Continue to repeat this process three times throughout the course of your descent before your parachute is automatically deployed.

The reason the Wave Technique helps you land fast in PUBG, is because it prevents the spinning round in a circle that you can suffer from if you try and dive full-tilt for the entire time. Taking those little breaks prevents this from occurring, letting you hit the ground first and get your pick of the weapons.
