Adventure Sync Coming to Pokemon GO; It Will Track Your Steps Even When the App Isn’t Launched

Just like the mainline Pokemon titles from the early 2000’s, walking with your mobile device while Pokemon GO is opened up will let you hatch eggs and obtain candy depending on the Pokemon that you’re walking with. Hatching eggs were first introduced in Pokemon Gold and Pokemon Silver and Niantic has just announced a new feature that will make the process much easier.

The feature is called Adventure Sync and will track your walking distances in Pokemon GO even when the application isn’t launched, saving the battery life from your phone –which Pokemon GO is guilty of.

Adventure Sync will also deliver a weekly summary to your app, showing you your candy progress and incubators.

“Earn rewards each week for each milestone you cross, and receive push notifications when your Buddy Pokémon has found a Candy or when an Egg is about to hatch! You can opt into Adventure Sync at any time, and the feature will connect to both Apple Health on Apple devices and Google Fit on Android devices.”

Pokemon GO is now available on iOS and Android devices. For everything on the mobile game, please be sure to check out our ever-expanding wiki guide that is chock-full of handy information.
