The music of the Persona series has always been one of the series most striking aspects, with each game featuring an eclectic mix of songs, from the pepped up pop inspired sounds of Persona 4 to the acid jazz soundtrack of 5. Atlus has released the official opening for the upcoming 3DS title Persona Q2: New Cinema Labyrinth, and boy is it just as stylish as you’d expect.
Like the first game, the opening of Q2 sports a brand new song that sounds very in line with Persona 5’s soundtrack, and the sleek animation shows off the wide cast of characters. The protagonist of 5 definitely takes center stage, but we also get a look at the characters from 3 and 4, as well as the female protagonist from P3P and some of the exclusive characters to Q2. It’s an incredibly stylish opening, no surprise based on the rest of the series, but you can see the whole thing in the video down below.
If you haven’t played the original Persona Q, it’s basically a combination of the Persona series and Etrian Odyssey. Dungeons use the map-building feature Etrian Odyssey is known for, while combat is mostly based around exploiting weaknesses like in Shin Megami Tensei. The main draw of the game, however, is seeing characters from all the different games interact, and getting to build your own dream party.
Persona Q2: New Cinema Labyrinth launches on Nov. 29 in Japan, exclusively for the Nintendo 3DS. At this point Atlus hasn’t confirmed that the game will come west, but considering the recent success of the franchise here and the upcoming release of the Persona Dancing games, it seems likely that we’ll see Q2 at some point.
