With the launch of the next big No Man’s Sky update, appropriately titled the NEXT update, you might be looking to jump into this sci-fi exploration game in search of new things to do. If you’re like many, you haven’t played the game — which is now two years old — in quite a while. If that’s the case, there’s a lot for you to catch up on: more story, new planet visuals, new vehicles, base building and even racing. If you’re a thrill seeker like many in the universe of No Man’s Sky, racing might be the first thing you find yourself looking to dive into. In fact, not only can you now race in the game, but you can create your own race circuits as well. Here’s how.

First and foremost, you need to build a Race Initiator in No Man’s Sky if you want to get building any race circuits. If you don’t know how to do that, we’ve got you covered. Check out our guide.

Once you’ve got that built, it’s time to make your own race circuits in No Man’s Sky. To do this, interact with the Race Initiator and select the option to create a race circuit. After that, hop onto your vehicle of choice and zip around the planet, dropping checkpoint markers at points throughout your route to create the track for your circuit. Once you’ve completed this track, run through it again from start to finish, aiming to do so in the quickest time possible.

The time you set will be what your friends compete against should they choose to take on your race circuits. Players visiting your base via Base Sharing will now be able to race on the circuits you created, attempting to beat the time you set. If a friend beats your time on any of your race circuits in No Man’s Sky, their time will take the top slot. Of course, you’re free to challenge their time and claim your race as yours once more.

And that’s all you need to know to make race circuits in No Man’s Sky. For more tips, tricks, and information on No Man’s Sky, be sure to check out our wiki.
