Drake’s New Album May Feature a Song About Fortnite

This article is over 6 years old and may contain outdated information

It’s been odd, but awesome, hearing rapper Drake’s name in the video game zeitgeist, hasn’t it? Well, if the tracklist for Drake’s new album has anything to say about it, we’ll be hearing about Drake a lot more very soon.

Today, the Champagne Papi revealed the tracklist for his next album, Scorpion, on Instagram and one of the tracks will likely catch the eye of any of the millions of fans Fortnite streamer Ninja has. A few months ago, Drake and Ninja teamed up in an attempt to crash Twitch’s servers–not really, but when they streamed Fortnite together last March, they broke Twitch streaming records with a monster 628,000 concurrent viewers. That means that over half a million people watched this stream at the same time. That day, March 14, is a day many won’t soon forget, and now, it seems that Drake might be solidifying that day in the video game history books with track number 13 of the B-Side–this album is a double feature–of Scorpion, titled March 14.

Now, we don’t know for sure that this song is about Fortnite, or perhaps that fateful day, but Drake has expressed his desire to create a rap centered around the popular battle royale game. A few months ago, Drake said that if Epic Games, the studio behind Fortnite, added his Hotline Bling dance into the game as an emote, he would write a rap about the game. That emote hasn’t made its way into the game yet, and nobody knows if it ever will, but Drake’s track might reveal that he just couldn’t wait until then.

March 14 isn’t the only potential video game song on Scorpion, though. The song right before March 14 might be about one of the most, if not the most, popular JRPG franchises in the world. Track 12 on the B-Side of Scorpion is titled Final Fantasy and if we’re lucky enough, Drake wrote a song about the series. Only time will tell, but fortunately, we don’t have to wait long: Scorpion releases tomorrow.
