PUBG Corp. Has Withdrawn From Fortnite Lawsuit

After much fanfare surrounding the lawsuit PUBG Corp. filed against Epic Games in Korea regarding copyright issues, PUBG Corp. has decided to withdraw the filing. This means the company is bowing out and no longer suing Epic Games.

Bloomberg states that PUBG Corp. sent a letter of withdrawal to the company on Monday, and since then, the case has been closed. PUBG Corp.’s law firm did confirm the end of the lawsuit, but did not confirm whether the case had been settled out of court or how it had come to an end. There haven’t been any comments, period, about the entire situation, from either party following the end of the suit.

It’s unclear how this will shape the relationship between both parties in the future, especially since Epic Games has provided the very tech and groundwork that PUBG is built on in the form of Unreal Engine 4, and will be expected to support the system as long as the license is valid — hopefully this little spat won’t end up changing anything and players can just go on continuing to enjoy both games, letting them both exist in harmony. That would be the optimal path for everyone involved, right?

We’ll keep you updated on the situation, should anything change in the future. Right now, it looks like this could be the end of the line for any legal issues, at least at present.
