In spite of the lack of details surrounding the Final Fantasy VII Remake, things seem to be flowing quite smoothly at Square Enix. During this week’s Weekly Famitsu (via Gematsu), producer Tetsuya Nomura took some time to shed some light on their plans for the game and where it stands in terms of development.
There, he stated that production is absolutely fine and that development is actually moving along better than expected. On top of that, Nomura assured that the remake’s direction was already decided upon before their recent shift to internal development.
The team is still thinking about when they’ll reveal more news about the Final Fantasy VII Remake, but for now, he urges fans to “please wait for the next news release with peace of mind.” As for what surprises the remake might have in store, the producer mentioned that they plan on preserving the atmosphere of the original game while delving deeper into the characters, including AVALANCHE.
It’s been a good while since the last official update about the Final Fantasy VII Remake, although Square Enix recently held an anniversary exhibition where they showed off some exclusive new character designs to the lucky attendees. It’s worth noting that Nomura has also been hard at work on the upcoming Kingdom Hearts III, but the company has been splitting their effort between both highly-anticipated games.
