PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds’ Sanhok Map Final Testing Round Extended

Today was planned to be when the upcoming Sanhok map, previously known as Codename Savage, for PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds was going to leave testing. This was in advance of its release later this month. However, PUBG Corp. has announced that the final round of testing for the map will be going on for three more days. Officially, testing is expected to end at 7am ET, 4am PT, 12pm BST this Thursday, June 7.

Currently, you can play Sanhok on the PUBG: Experimental Server. This is an experimental branch of the game that can be accessed by anyone who owns it on PC. The map is expected to launch before the end of June.

Since the previous round of testing, several changes have been pushed out in time for the current round, which started on May 31. These changes included increased spawn rates for items and weapon attachments, improvements to the environment with added set dressings and various objects that improved how Sanhok looked, as well as changes to the final three Blue Zones. These final three zones will move slightly slower, and the dynamic blue zone will kick in later. Testing these internally, they determined that the overall playtime was increased by roughly 50 seconds.

These changes all come as a part of PUBG Corp.’s previous statement that it wants to make “literally every inch of Sanhok perfect for players,” in their Dev Letter from May 26. Aside from Sanhok, the letter stated that their three biggest issues they intend to tackle are performance, server-side optimization, and cheating.

The Sanhok map is not only inspired by the rich tropical environment of Thailand, but is also the smallest map in PUBG, with only a 4x4km area for players to battle in. The map will also include one new vehicle and weapon, which are exclusive to Sanhok. They will both launch after the map has already released.
