First released over a decade ago on the Xbox 360, Bullet Witch will be coming to Steam towards the end of this month. The game is a single-player first-person shooter, and an attempt to merge Japanese dark fantasy with the military-action style gameplay more commonly found in Western games.
In Bullet Witch, the player takes on the role of Alicia Claus, a demon-hunting witch who helps to reignite mankind’s resistance against extinction. The re-release promises improved resolution, frame rate, lighting, and game balance. The PC release will also include all original DLC for free, including bonus missions (unlocked after beating the game) and costumes.
To mow down enemies, Alicia uses a long gun resembling a witch’s broom, which can transform into four different types of weapons: a machine gun, a shotgun, a canon, and gattling gun. Each of these weapons can be upgraded. As players shoot down enemies, they will begin to charge up a magic meter. Once charged, Alicia can summon thunderbolts or even meteors to vanquish their enemies. These spells can even affect the environment, tearing roofs off of buildings, for example. While Alicia mostly fights alone, she may be joined by some NPC resistance fighters at certain points of the game as well. To see how the gameplay will look, check out the video below.
Bullet Witch was originally released in Japan in 2006 for the Xbox 360, and was later released in North America, Europe, and Australia in 2007. The PC re-release is currently scheduled for April 25, 2018. It is being published by XSEED Games, and developed by Marvelous Inc. More information can be found on the game’s Steam page.
