Ghostbusters World Is a New Augmented Reality Title for Mobile Devices

Who ya gonna call? Ghostbusters, of course, as Ghostbusters World debuts as a new augmented reality game coming to both iOS and Android this year. In a collaboration between Sony Pictures Entertainment and Ghost Corps with mobile game publisher 4:33 Creative Lab, we’re getting a new Ghostbusters game, and while there isn’t a lot to go off of just yet, it sounds like it could be pretty cool.

Ghostbusters World is a new AR-based game that will let players battle and capture ghosts from the movies, TV shows, comic books, theme parks, video games, and more. It sounds like a riff on Pokemon Go that’s meant to include a ton of different ghosts and nostalgic value for anyone who’s a fan of the Ghostbusters series.

“We are thrilled to work with Sony Pictures Entertainment and Ghost Corps to bring the iconic Ghostbusters franchise to life,” Sung-Jin Han, CEO of 4:33 said. “Fans will have the opportunity to take a walk through an immersive game environment that merges our everyday world with the many ghosts from the Ghostbusters Universe. It’s an unparalleled experience!”

You can look for Ghostbusters World on iOS and Android this year, but there isn’t a release date just yet. You can expect to see more info come out of GDC 2018.
