This article is over 6 years old and may contain outdated information

The atmospheric mystery that is The Vanishing of Ethan Carter has surprisingly been listed on the Xbox Store, with a release set for later this month. Polish studio The Astronauts, currently knee deep in their newest and more action heavy game titled Witchfire which was revealed during the 2017 Game Awards, are again handling the port which will update the haunting and mysterious story of detective Paul Prospero and the strange disappearance of a young boy to full 4K support on Xbox One X. Originally released during 2014 on PC and later for the PS4, The Vanishing of Ethan Carter was hailed for its focus on storytelling and its unique ambience. The Astronauts have returned to the game on more than one occasion, having released a free ‘redux’ patch that improved the games visuals by upgrading from Unreal Engine 3 to Unreal Engine 4 as well as rebuilding the in-game checkpoint system. The Vanishing of Ethan Carter VR was then later released for both Oculus and HTC Vive VR capable systems. Microsoft’s US online store now has a pre-order page up for the Xbox One X enhanced edition of The Vanishing of Ethan Carter, with a release date set for Jan. 19.  No other details or changes are currently listed.
