It’s possible that PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds could very well receive a set of new cosmetic items after it launches in full, but nothing that would affect gameplay.
PUBG Corp CEO Changhan Kim and lead game designer Junhyuk Choi spoke at the G_STAR Global Game Exhibition in South Korea recently about the game’s launch and what kind of content plans they have for later on. They stated that there would be additional weapons, clothing items, and more as well as a “surprise announcement” about them ahead of release.
However, they did clarify that they would “never” add anything that might affect the gameplay in general.
“However, there is a relatively strong demand for cosmetic items. Since the official launch is our top priority, we plan on adding new items after that.”
There was even talk of a possible practice mode for new players unfamiliar with the game, though it might be something they’d want to try out post-launch, noting that several players are looking for either a shooting range or tutorial mode for practice going forward.
It looks like there is at least the possibility of these things coming to the game, but only after launch and only items and modes that wouldn’t affect gameplay too much. Perhaps this is something EA should have adhered to with Star Wars Battlefront II.
