The announcement was accompanied by a new release date trailer giving players a quick glimpse of the rogue-lite gameplay and charming visuals, as well as some praise from critics. In The Flame in the Flood, players will have to make their way up a procedurally generated river with their dog, Aesop, hunting, scavenging, and crafting as they go. You can check out the game’s official description and its latest trailer below.

A rogue-lite river journey through the backwaters of a forgotten post-societal America. Forage, craft, evade predators.

From the Art Director of BioShock and a team of veterans of the BioShock, Halo, Guitar Hero and Rock Band series comes The Flame in the Flood.

Travel by foot and by raft down a procedurally-generated river as you scrounge for resources, craft tools, remedy afflictions, evade the vicious wildlife, and most importantly, stay ahead of the coming rains.

The Flame in the Flood will hit the Nintendo Switch eShop on Oct. 12. It’s also available now on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
