I can remember back when when it was revealed that Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood was going to have a multiplayer how many people were so jaded. Some fans were concerned about it taking away from the single-player experience, or that the multiplayer would end up being some kind of cash grab. I also remember how pleasantly surprised reviewers and fans were at the time that it was actually pretty damn fun. However, since Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, the multiplayer mode has been MIA, to dismay of some fans.
Twinfinite spoke with Assassin’s Creed Origins game director, Ashraf Ismail, about all things AC Origins, and the topic of multiplayer came up. Like some of you, we were curious about what the deal was with multiplayer in AC Origins (or rather lack thereof), and prodded Ismail a little on that. Essentially, it was a similar line that we’ve heard previously with the last few AC games, but it was interesting to hear that it never really was considered at all considering how well received ACIV: Black Flag was, and that Ismail was the director on that as well.
Throughout the interview, it was made known that the focus of the team is just getting AC Origins ready to go for its Oct. 27 release date. Still maybe there’s hope for the next game, or perhaps a DLC add-on for a multiplayer mode in the future.
