Gran Turismo Sport Finally Gets an Official Release Date

The wait is almost over !
This article is over 7 years old and may contain outdated information

PS4 owners have been waiting for Gran Turismo Sport to cross the finish line for quite some time. The console exclusive has, unfortunately, hit a few road bumps that pushed back its anticipated release date. Last August it was announced that Gran Turismo Sport, which was originally slated to release in November 2016, wouldn’t be released until the following year. Well, 2017 is here and it looks like Gran Turismo Sport finally will be too. Polyphony Digital President, Kazunori Yamauchi, took to the PlayStation blog to make the announcement.

“I’m extremely excited to confirm that Gran Turismo Sport will be launching on October 17 in North America,” the post revealed. “Following the successful completion of our Closed Beta phase, as announced earlier this week, we are now entering the final stages of polishing as we prepare for launch. Between now and launch you can expect to hear a lot more from the GT team as we unveil more information on the many features included in Gran Turismo Sport, including the campaign mode, various creative tools, as well as a full reveal on all the cars and tracks you can look forward to racing on launch day!”

The new October release date means that the game will launch almost an entire year after its original scheduled release so there will certainly be added pressure on the title to live up to expectations. So far, however, Gran Turismo Sport is definitely offering the same gorgeous visuals that the franchise has always touted. Pre-orders for the insanely popular PS4 exclusive are available now on the PlayStation Store and at retail locations across Europe. Fans can place a pre-order for the Standard Edition of the game for $69.99 or step up to the Digital Deluxe Edition for $79.99. Pre-orders for the Standard Edition comes with a starter park of eight cars, $1MM in-game credit, a sticker pack, 30 avatars, a chrome racing helmet for the driver profile and a steel book with special packaging. The Digital Deluxe Edition will give you a total of 12 cars to start out with, $2MM in-game credit, 60 avatars and the same chrome helmet for your driver profile. The PlayStation blog does not list the steel book for the Digital Deluxe Edition.
