The Nintendo Switch’s Attach Rate Beats the Wii U in Japan, Which Is Now 1.60

Beats the Wii U's rate of 1.45

Since launching this past March, the Nintendo Switch has been doing quite well and is actually the fastest-selling Nintendo console ever – which is saying something. During Nintendo’s E3 presentation this past week, the company made some big announcements that definitely showed gamers everywhere why they need a Switch, if they didn’t own one already.

Yesterday, Media Creates released their weekly analysis on the Japanese market, and according to DualShockers, the Nintendo Switch has an attach rate of 1.60 after being on the market for 15 weeks. Attach rate is the ratio of games sold per console sold, so for every Switch console purchased, the average person will buy more than a game and a half – putting it into layman terms.

In comparison, after the 15th week of the launch of the Wii U, the attach rate was at 1.45. Looking at the titles that came out during the “launch window” of both consoles, we can see how one fares much better than the other. After three months, the Nintendo Switch has some big titles such as: Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, ARMS, 1-2 Switch. The Wii U’s biggest titles were New Super Mario Bros. Wii U and Nintendo Land. After the launch of Splatoon 2, Super Mario Odyssey, Fire Emblem Warriors, and Super Mario Odyssey, we can only predict that that attach rate will only increase.
