Shadows of Valentia is a re-imagining of Fire Emblem Gaiden, and while the larger story points should stay mostly the same, series fans can expect some changes and adjustments to both gameplay and story progression. The story is set on a warring continent that’s been torn apart by two gods going head to head. According to Nintendo, Shadows of Valentia will also feature a blend of modern and old school Fire Emblem gameplay, so newer series fans will be able to enjoy the tactical gameplay that was present in more recent entries like Awakening and Fates.

Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia is set to be released exclusively for the Nintendo 3DS on May 19. We’ll keep you updated as more details on the new title comes our way.
