Nintendo Switch: All the Indie Games Releasing This Year

Nintendo today announced a slew of indie titles headed for its upcoming Switch console, which is due to arrive this Friday, March 3. While some of the gaming community remains skeptical about Nintendo’s ability to lure third-party AAA games to the console, the “Nindies” event today shows that Nintendo very much as the suppot of the independent game development community.

Some big news to come from the event: Runner3, the sequel to rhythm-based platformer Runner 2, is coming to the Nintendo Switch as an exclusive. The game’s developer, Choice Provisions, released the previous title on 9 different platforms. As far as indies go, this is a big get for Nintendo. Runner3 is due in Fall 2017.

Nintendo Switch owners also get first dibs on Stardew Valley’s new multiplayer mode, which enables players inside the rural RPG’s world to play alongside one another. Stardew Valley is set to release in Summer 2017.

Other indie games showcased in the stream, with expected release dates in parentheses, include:
