Taking to Twitter, Boon confirmed the mobile version and briefly touched on its “new combat system.”

The first game in the series, Injustice: Gods Among Us, also had a companion app released for iOS and Android. This had a touch screen fighting system, all swipes and prods, and it had a collectible card game component as well – giving players the ability collect their favorite characters and do battle with them 3-on-3.

The Injustice 2 mobile has had a soft launch already in the Philippines. According to a report from Touch Arcade, “the swipe-based fighting mechanics have been upgraded quite a bit over the original game.”

As it is a soft launch, there will likely be changes and additions made by the time of release, especially considering the extensive support the first mobile game had. It will be free-to-play as well, just like the original app.

Injustice 2 will be released on May 16 for PS4, Xbox One, PC, and Mobile platforms.
