In a blog post, the developers officially announced the new game mode and clarified how it can be accessed. Unlike its main story, the Firewatch free-roam mode allows you to explore the world freely, without any objectives to distract you from its breathtaking vistas. There’s a dynamic day and night system to add to the immersion, too.

The free-roam mode is unlocked after completing the general story, and can be found in the Special Features section in the Main Menu.

Firewatch’s free-roam patch is available now on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC.
