Xbox One sales beat PlayStation 4 sales for the first time in months when it came to consoles sold in the US. Xbox’s marketing boss Aaron Greenberg has revealed he feels optimistic when it comes to the Xbox’s August sales.
“We saw tons of momentum coming out of E3. It was a huge show for us. We announced a lot. Two new consoles. We showcased a huge games lineup, a lot of Xbox Live innovation. It’s great to see the July NPD as a result,” Greenberg said to Windows Central. “We had a really good response coming out of that. In August, I think we’re going to sell a lot of consoles.”
Part of Greenberg’s confidence no doubt lies in the fact that the newly released Xbox One S is doing very well and is ahead in terms of initial expectations. When asked if he thought the Xbox One would outsell the PS4 in August, Greenberg said:
“We just kind of focus on what we’re doing and how we’re performing,” he said. “We’re really pleased with how the Xbox One S has been performing. It has exceeded our expectations. We’re trying to make as many as we can, as fast as we can, as we try to get these new bundles out to the market. We’ll see, we’ll see how it turns out.”
It looks like the Xbox One is certainly have a great month, time will tell if it’s enough to outsell the PS4 for a second month running. The upcoming release of the Microsoft exclusive ReCore might well incentivize consumers to pick up an Xbox One.
