It looks like ESL and Intel are wasting no time planning Season 11 of the Intel Extreme Masters series. Season 10 of the global gaming series just ended in with the world championship event in March in Katowice, Poland, but ESL and Intel have already announced the locations and, more importantly, the prize pool for Season 11.
For the first time in the series history, IEM will feature a prize pool of over $1,000,000. Yes, that is six zeroes. There will be four global IEM events happening from Jul. 2016 through Mar. 2017, and like always, the games that will be featured at these events are Counter Strike: Global Offensive, StarCraft II, and League of Legends.
Take a look below to see a list of the event locations.
- IEM Shanghai, July 28th – 31st, 2016
- IEM Oakland, November 19th – 20th, 2016
- IEM Goyang, December 17th – 18th, 2016
- World Championship in Katowice, March 2017
This will be the third year in a row that IEM will bring one of its main events onto America soil. The first two were held during seasons nine and 10 at the SAP Center in San Jose, California. This year, the event will be held in the much larger Oracle Arena in Oakland, California, home of the NBA Champion Golden State Warriors. Clearly, American fans have let ESL and Intel know that they are hungry for more eSports action.
Tickets are not on sale yet for any of the events, but it is probably a good idea to keep an eye on the IEM website, because tickets will be going fast once they hit the market.
Who will you be pulling for once the world tour begins?
