Destiny 2 May Not Happen This Year

Hope for the future?
This article is over 8 years old and may contain outdated information

At this point, we’re all aware of Destiny’s 10 year long plan. One major game, followed by a major expansion the following year, repeat. With last year’s release of The Taken King, that logically means that this year will see a sequel, yeah? Well, that may not be the case. According to Kotaku and their sources, Bungie higher-ups delayed Destiny 2 (if it’ll even be called that) out of its planned September 2016 release date last week, which not everyone at the Seattle studio even knew about. The reason for the delay isn’t stated, but it sounds like the game’s future is constantly shifting. As compensation for the lack of a supposed full game this year, Bungie’s live team in charge of coming up with events and updates for the game are allegedly hard at work on building several new DLC packs. Bungie has yet to comment on this, but for now, Destiny will be launching a Valentine’s Day themed event in February, followed by a larger one sometime afterwards. Exactly what their plans are for the rest of the year are sure to come in the near future. Think Destiny 2 will happen this year? Glad it could be delayed? Let us know in the comments below.
