It’s time to prepare for a pleasant, candlelit dinner with your favorite BG3 character, thanks to Larian Studios’ Valentine’s Day update. If you want to prepare for your date night in Faerun, here are the patch notes for Baldur’s Gate 3 Patch 6.
Baldur’s Gate 3 Patch 6 Patch Notes
Patch 6 for Baldur’s Gate 3 released on February 16, 2024. Read on to see all of the patch notes, confirming everything new to the game:
New Kissing Animations
Since Baldur’s Gate 3 Patch 6 centers around love, Patch 6 adds an improved kissing feature. Rather than a simple smooch, these romantic scenes are much more sensual, locking your lips with your character during those steamy conversations. There are new kissing animations in the game, plus variants based on characters’ height.
New Camp Animations
Patch 6 also adds a range of new animations for party members sat around your camp. When they’re idle and without a task to complete, you can find characters sharpening their weapons or just passing the time.
It’s also now easier to dismiss party members. All you’ve got to do is speak to the party member you wish to replace someone with, and invite them to your party from there. BG3 players know the struggle of taking out someone within their party and then circling back to the one they want. However, with this feature, the dismissed member will now appear when talking to your desired companion.
Improvements and Fixes
See the bullet point list below for some of the key fixes in Patch 6 of Baldur’s Gate 3. For the full list, go ahead and check out the official blog post on the game’s website.
- If you started your game on a set difficulty, you can now switch to Custom Mode (except when already playing Honour Mode).
- Fixed an issue that would prevent travel between acts.
- Fixed an issue causing quicksaves to fail to upload to cross-saves.
- Added light bar colours for the DualSense controller on PC.
- Fixed graphic settings not being applied for some 4k monitors.
- Fixed a crash on Xbox that would sometimes occur when starting or ending a game.
- Added the option to scale the density of crowds on Xbox.
- Improved combat AI pathfinding through dangerous surfaces and through steep terrain.
- Increased the number of valid methods of knocking Minthara out to recruit her.
- The whole party’s inventory is now present in the trade interface, which doesn’t require you to switch characters to sell their items from their inventories anymore.
- Updated the interface visuals for the Options and Difficulty menus.
- Improved how the combat log indicates XP gain.
- Fixed a potential crash caused by the game not loading the level properly when failing to connect.
- Fixed an issue causing the game to get stuck loading at 33%.
- Fixed a crash when lockpicking.
Other than that, Shield Bash and Rebuke of the Mighty have been improved, making Saving Throws easier to perform. These mechanics have been buggy for a while, ultimately not working for many players. So, now BG3 Patch 6 has rolled out, your passives should now be fully functional for those abilities.
Conversations have also been tweaked, where your avatar is the main focus and your companions have taken the back seat. Although we all love those witty remarks from Astarion, it’s probably for the best to have the main character actually be the star of the show.
As for the file size, Larian Studios has suggested 150GB of free space. This includes PlayStation, Xbox, and PC, with Mac expected to make a release sometime soon. In addition, the team recommends uninstalling BG3 and re-downloading the patched version if you don’t have much room for your device.
