CoD ModCoD Modern Warfare 2 is almost here, and Infinity Ward is expanding the next entry in ways never before seen, especially in the movement category. Players can climb and hang from ledges while firing pistols, swim, and engage in underwater combat and the beloved dolphin dive from Call of Duty Black Ops 2. Along with those changes, a notorious movement technique will be making its return by the name of slide canceling. Slide canceling is an insanely powerful movement, although it does take time to master. Here’s what you need to know about what is a slide cancel and how to perform a slide cancel in-game.
What is Slide Canceling?
Slide canceling is an advanced movement that allows you to travel the map at a quicker speed. Aside from helping you travel the map quickly, slide canceling allows your weapon to aim down sight faster when exiting a slide. Slide canceling is also a nightmare for the opposition as it’s technically a game-breaking issue as performing a successful slide cancel will break your opponent’s tracking, essentially making you a moving nightmare.
Slide Canceling in Modern Warfare 2
In order to perform a slide cancel, you must first change a few controller settings:
- Weapon Mount Activation: Double-Tap ADS
- Grounded Mantle: Off
- Automatic Ground Mantle: Off
Now that you’ve taken care of that, here’s how to perform a slide cancel:
- Activate your Tac Sprint ability
- Press the “Slide” button on your controller
- While sliding, double tap your ADS button
- Press the jump button to complete the slide cancel
Slide canceling is a very tricky movement to do. One recommendation would be to turn on “Automatic Tac Sprint” in the game settings. However, once your master the movement, you’ll be breaking the opponents’ line of sight, and your thumb sticks, in no time.
