Understanding Abilities & Ultimates

In V Rising, players can gain access to three different tiers of powers in addition to their choice of weapons and gears. Blood Abilities are categorized into Basic, Travel, and Ultimate abilities, and are further separated into the disciplines of Blood, Unholy, Illusion, Chaos, and Frost.

The Blood tree is all about protecting and healing oneself, the Unholy tree will debuff your enemies, Illusion abilities causes chaos by tricking enemies, while both Chaos and Frost abilities deal AoE damage with burn and freezing damage respectively.

You can acquire more of these Blood Abilities in V Rising by defeating the various V Blood Bosses found in the game. Read on for our pick of the more useful ones when enjoying both PvE and PvP experiences in V Rising.

Best Blood Abilities in V Rising

Being able to heal oneself is quite important during your adventures, and this is the perfect tree for that. Out of the five Blood Abilities found in the game, consider the following to add to your arsenal:

Blood Rage

Using Blood Rage casts a shield around your vampire and nearby allies, and is dependent on 110% of your spell power. Not only are you protected, but you also get increased attack speed by 25% for the next 4.5 seconds, making sure you can end your opponents before they can even damage you.

This is extremely useful both in PvE and PvP, especially if you find yourself up against a single but tough enemy, or a group of more fragile foes. Blood Rage is obtained by defeating Rufus the Foreman V Blood Boss.

V Rising Blood Rage

Sanguine Coil

If you want both damage and healing, then Sanguine Coil is the Blood Ability for you. This launches a projectile that deals 75% magic damage. It will then heal any allies for 100% and yourself for 40% of your spell damage. If you are in a team, launching several Sanguine Coil attacks can essentially keep everyone in great fighting shape.

Meredith the Bright Archer will grant this ability once she is defeated in the Dunley Farmlands.

Best Unholy Abilities in V Rising

Pestilence

A ranged Unholy Ability that can swiftly build up the damage, using Pestilence launches three Unholy projectiles at enemies, each dealing 40% damage when hit. More importantly, you are looking at a knockback effect for each hit, together with applying the Amplified status effect.

This increases the damage taken by the target by 25% for the next five seconds. If you want to get rid of something fast and keep yourself safe, Pestilence is a great choice and can be obtained from felling Nicholaus the Fallen in Farbane Woods.

V Rising Pestilence

Ward of the Damned

Turn defense into offense with Ward of the Damned, an Unholy Ability that grants 10% bonus movement speed and grants blocking of both melee and ranged attacks on your front. In addition, every hit absorbed will summon a skeleton to help your fight, all while enemies are knocked back from you.

When facing a crowd or even PvP players, this can give you more numbers for an advantage, and save you from potentially fatal damage. This Unholy ability is also obtained from Nicholaus the Fallen.

Best Illusion Abilities in V Rising

Wisp Dance

Wisp Dance will summon at least three wisps that will form a protective circle around your character, acting as a shield that causes enemies that are close to take 25% magic damage. However, you can recast the ability to launch the wisps as projectiles, each dealing 50% magic damage, while causing the Weaken status effect that reduces their damage output by 30% for five seconds.

Protecting oneself while retaining the ability to cause harm and weakening the enemy, this is a great way to stack the odds in your favor. That said,it is a late-game ability, obtained from defeating Forecrusher the Behemoth in the Cursed Forest.

V Rising Spectral Assassin

Spectral Assassin

Give yourself some help with the Spectral Assassin ability, which brings a shadowy friend into the mix for 6 seconds that does 125% magic damage to anyone that is unfortunate enough to be in the area. Each hit also knocks back the enemy, while also inflicting the Weaken status effect.

Crowd controlling becomes easier with this ability, and Leandra the Shadow Priestess will be the one you have to kill to obtain this ability. She can be found in the Dunley Farmlands.

Best Chaos Abilities in V Rising

Chaos Volley

A ranged attack that may seem basic, but is actually quite a useful one in all situations. Chaos Volley hurls two chaos bolts in quick succession, dealing 125% of overall magic damage, while applying a constant Chaos Burn status effect, dealing damage over time.

If you find yourself at range and need a good damage dealer, then Chaos Volley is what you will need. You can obtain this ability from Lidia the Chaos Archer in Farbane Woods.

V Rising Chaos Volley

Power Surge

Find yourself in bad shape while being cursed with all sorts of status effects? Use Power Surge to not only give you a shield that is 150% of your spell power, but also to remove all negative status effects. This ability can be used on allies as well, plus the enhanced attack and movement speed of 25% can help you get out of danger or stay in the fight.

This late-game ability can be yours by defeating Azariel the Sunbringer found in the Silverlight Hills.

Best Frost Abilities in V Rising

Frost Bat

An ability that can be obtained relatively early in V Rising, Frost Bat fires a projectile that explodes on impact, causing Chill to all targets in range. It deals 100% magic damage, and can immobilize enemies for 4 seconds, while it stops other players for 2.5 seconds.

Smart use of this ability can help in crowd control and give you time to breathe, and you can receive this power by defeating Keely the Frost Archer in Farbane Woods.

V Rising Frost Bat

Frost Barrier

If you are in a tough spot and have tons of enemies around you, activating Frost Barrier can save your life. This ability spawns waves after waves of Frost, each dealing 50% damage to targets while applying the Chill status effect to stop them in their tracks. You also gain a 10% increase in movement speed, and all incoming melee and projectile attacks are blocked for two seconds.

Vincent the Frostbringer will grant this ability once he is defeated in the Dunley Farmlands.

Best Ultimate Abilities in V Rising

Show off your immense power in V Rising by utilizing these Ultimate abilities, which are both powerful and great to witness in action. Some of the best include:

Arctic Leap

Take to the air and strike down with righteous fury with Arctic Leap, an Ultimate that deals 225% AoE magic damage. All nearby enemies will be frozen for at least 6 seconds, and other vampires will get immobilized for 3 seconds. Once everyone is stopped in their tracks, it gives you the opportunity to heal up or continue dealing damage.

You can obtain this Ultimate by defeating Terrorclaw the Ogre in the Hallowed Mountains.

V Rising Arctic Leap

Spectral Guardian

An Illusory Ultimate, the ability allows players to summon a Spectral Guardian that grants shields to you and your allies. In addition, this new friend will attack nearby enemies for about 7 seconds, all while recasting the shields every 1.5 seconds to keep you safe. If you needed something to take the attention off you while providing protection, this Ultimate is perfect for the job.

Defeat Terah the Geomancer in the Dunley Farmlands for this reward.

Best Travel Abilities in V Rising

Using Travel abilities can help you get around faster, but are also excellent in causing mayhem to enemy ranks and can be invaluable in battle. Our favorites include:

Veil of Illusion

When you are trying to take the heat off you, using Veil of Illusion gives you not only a dash to get out of harm’s way, but also spawns an illusion that will distract enemies by attacking them with projectiles that cause 40% magic damage. You will also be able to deal the next attack with 25% increased damage.

Recasting also teleports your vampire to the starting position, with another illusion taking your prior position. Get this ability from Polora the Feywalker found in the Farbane Woods.

Veil of Frost

Instead of escaping, why not head right into danger and show folks why they shouldn’t mess with you? Veil of Frost will send your vampire in any direction chosen, eluding enemies, and adding a 125% spell power shield for good measure.

Your next primary attack causes 25% more damage, but will also cause a frost nova. This deals 50% damage to the target, and also applies the Chill status effect, giving you the upper hand. Obtain this ability from Vincent the Frostbringer in the Dunley Farmlands.
