Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl are finally out for the Nintendo Switch, giving both longtime fans and newcomers alike to explore the Sinnoh region with a beautiful graphical overhaul, and also enjoy various quality-of-life changes and gameplay improvements. Some things stay the same, though, as you still have the ability to breed Pokemon with perfect stats and shiny hunt. Here’s how to soft reset in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl.
It’s really less of a soft reset and more of a hard reset when it comes to Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl. Whereas in previous games, especially on older consoles like the 3DS, you could simply hit a few buttons to be taken back to the title screen quickly, that isn’t the case in this one.
Soft Resetting in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl
To reset your game, you’ll need to press the Home button on your Switch console, then press the X button to close the game completely like you would with any other Switch game.
Then, boot up the game again by selecting it with the A button, and load up your file to continue trying to get your desired Pokemon. This is a lot more time-consuming than in previous games, but as far as we can tell, this is the closest we’ve got to a soft reset in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl.
As always, we recommend saving your game right before a key Pokemon encounter or before an egg is about to hatch so that you can keep resetting the game and getting back to that point to see if you get lucky.
