Dubbed Season 1: Phalanx, the new patch – which weighs in at 2.049GB on PS5 – will bring a bunch of new content to the sci-fi third-person shooter. Check out the latest trailer outlining the new freebies that you’ll nab down below:

As you can see, the main draw of this latest update is the addition of a brand new class: the titular Phalanx. From the trailer, the Phalanx appears to be a shield-toting defensive unit that excels at blocking damage and blasting nearby enemies with charges of electricity. While this electric attack helps to keep the pesky xenomorphs at bay, it’s most useful against the android foes you come across in the game’s campaign.

Elsewhere, you’ll also get access to a handful of new laser weapons. Yes, the new patch will introduce the N79 Eva Laser Pistol, L59 Minigun, L33 Pike Rifle and Type 88 Heavy Assault Rifle. Pretty neat, huh?

Yours truly reviewed Aliens: Fireteam Elite for Twinfinite, and I really enjoyed my time with the game, ultimately awarding it a 4/5, concluding:

All in all, however, these are very minor reservations for what is ultimately one of the best action-centric games based on the Aliens licence, well… ever. It’s consistently engaging, surprisingly deep and radically enhanced when you’ve got a couple of friends in tow. While a few minor AI and presentational bugs hold it back from being the perfect organism fans have been hoping for, Aliens: Fireteam Elite absolutely nails that one-last-stand thrill of roleplaying a badass marine with your back against the wall battling overwhelmingly insurmountable odds. Let’s rock? Aye-firmative.

But how about you? Tell us, are you enjoying your time with Aliens: Fireteam Elite? Or do you think it should be nuked from orbit just to be sure? Avoid the facehuggers in the usual place down below to let us know.
