Destiny 2: Best Auto Rifles for PvE, PvP, Gambit (2023)

Please let them be good once again!

Auto rifles have been in a weird spot for a while now in Destiny 2. They’ve been up and down, but now, especially in PvP, they are quite powerful again. These are the best auto rifles for PvE, PvP, and Gambit in Destiny 2 as of 2023.

Best for PvE & Gambit

  • Age-Old Bond (Energy, Void) – Possible drop from completing encounters in the raid, Last Wish.
  • Chroma Rush (Kinetic) – Possible reward from Dares of Eternity.
  • Hard Light (Energy, Exotic) – Purchase from Exotic Kiosk.
  • Monte Carlo (Exotic, Kinetic) – Purchase from Exotic Kiosk.
  • Reckless Oracle (Energy, Void) – Possible drop from completing encounters in the raid, Garden of Salvation.
  • Seventh Seraph Carbine (Kinetic) – Complete Season of the Seraph activities.
  • Scathelocke (Kinetic) – Random world pool drop.
  • Tommy’s Matchbook (Energy, Solar, Exotic) – Purchase from Exotic Kiosk.
  • Duty Bound (Kinetic) – Obtained from Nightfall Strikes.

Auto Rifles in PvE could use some help. Unfortunately, none that have been released in the last year have been stand out compared to other weapon types that have taken the meta by storm.

That said, the ones we have now are all very nice to use that can still get the job done in most endgame content. The Exotic Auto Rifle Hardlight is an excellent choice for every Light 3.0 build, and Monte Carlo is fantastic for Melee-based builds.

Each Legendary Auto listed is solid for any endgame activity, but overall, we need some new ones with better perks when the upcoming Lightfall DLC releases.

Best Auto Rifles for PvP

  • Hard Light (Energy, Exotic) – Purchase from Exotic Kiosk.
  • Monte Carlo (Exotic, Kinetic) – Random rare exotic world drop.
  • Scathelocke (Kinetic) – Random world pool drop.
  • Suros Regime (Kinetic, Exotic) – Rare exotic world drop.
  • Tigerspite (Kinetic) – Possible drop from completing events in the Dreaming Cit.
  • Ammit (Energy, Solar) – World Loot drop.
  • Sweet Business (Kinetic, Exotic) – Purchase from Exotic Kiosk.

Auto Rifles in PvP haven’t been the same since Season of the Worthy. While they’re solid to use, there are much better options, such as Pulse Rifles or Hand Cannons.

Suros Regime, Hardlight, and Sweet Business continue to give them hope, but they could use some buffs to compete with other Exotic weapons. Though in the hands of a Titan, a Sweet Business can be quite the menace to deal with.

However, the one shining hope for Auto Rifles in PvP currently is the Ammit. A brand new craftable Auto Rifle that is dominating the PvP endgame. Hopefully, when Lightfall arrives, Auto Rifles will have some time to shine again.

That’s all for our best auto rifles in Destiny 2 for PvE, PvP, & Gambit as of The Witch Queen. Be sure to search for Twinfinite for more tips and information on Destiny 2-related content.
