5 Unanswered Questions We Have After Nintendo’s E3 2021 Showcase

E3 2021 is drawing to a close, and Nintendo’s showcase started to wrap up the week of announcements. We saw a diverse range of reveals, from exciting first-party games to third-party titles that will be making their way to the Switch in 2021 and beyond.

Though there were a lot of great games shown, we left the Direct with a few questions. There were a few games we expected to see that were absent, and we’re also wondering some things about the games they did show. Here are five unanswered questions we still have after Nintendo’s E3 2021 showcase.

What Is the Breath of the Wild Sequel’s Title?

breath of the wild sequel

During the Direct, we saw nearly two minutes of the sequel to Breath of the Wild, a long-anticipated title since it was announced back in 2019. There’s a ton to speculate on here, from the strange power in Link’s hand to the floating landforms and more.

It’s a lot to pick apart, which raises many questions we could ask, but the most obvious question is something we thought would be answered by now: what is the game’s title?

We know now that the game is set to release sometime in 2022, and we’re putting together the pieces of the story and gameplay. We just need a title. What could it be?

We’re thinking that the title would probably give away too much of the plot, which is why Nintendo decided to keep it a secret for a little bit longer.

When Will We See Metroid Prime 4?

Questions We Have After Nintendo’s Showcase

metroid prime 4

Metroid fans have something to celebrate after Nintendo’s showcase. Metroid Dread, a long ago-canceled project, has been revived and will be releasing on the Nintendo Switch later this year. It’s a 2D-style game with a new villain called E.M.M.I.

However, we saw nothing about Metroid Prime 4, which was originally announced back in 2017 and restarted development in 2019.

Before revealing Metroid Dread, there was a quick word about how they are still hard at work on Metroid Prime 4. But there was no mention of how far along it is in development, when we can expect more information, or any other bit of information.

Of course, it’s a huge project, and Metroid fans are masters of patience. We’d just love to know if we can expect more information later this year or if we need to keep waiting even longer than that.

Until then, Metroid Dread is a nice surprise.

Where the Heck Is Bayonetta 3?

Questions We Have After Nintendo’s Showcase

bayonetta 3

Like Metroid Prime 4, Bayonetta 3 was announced to be in development back in 2017 with nothing but a logo. And like Metroid Prime 4, we still know nothing about the game.

There really hasn’t even been a peep about it. Last year, Platinum Games said they are still hard at work on the title. But it seems like they still don’t have anything to share with us, not even a little teaser.

Our questions for Bayonetta 3 are the same as they are for Metroid Prime 4. How far along is the game at this point? When will we get our first bit of information, like a teaser trailer or screenshots? It would have been nice to get something like that during the E3 Direct, but it looks like we’ll have to keep waiting.

Will WarioWare Have Online Multiplayer?

Questions We Have After Nintendo’s Showcase

warioware get it together

WarioWare is coming to the Nintendo Switch with the next game in the franchise, Warioware: Get It Together. It looks like a ton of fun, and for the very first time, two players will be able to play with microgames together in a brand new co-op mode.

Usually, WarioWare games are designed to be played single-player. This time, the game supports up to four players, according to the game’s eShop listing.

The big question is whether this will be limited to local multiplayer or if people will be able to team up with others online. It would be pretty fun to hop online and be connected to a random player to either cooperate with or play against. Perhaps there could even be an online leaderboard with top players worldwide and on your friends list.

We’ll have to wait and see if online multiplayer is confirmed before the game releases on September 10.

Is Anything Happening for Donkey Kong’s Anniversary?

Questions We Have After Nintendo’s Showcase

donkey kong

Mario got a big celebration for its 35th anniversary, Zelda got… something similar for its 35th. But what about Donkey Kong for its 40th anniversary? Did Nintendo forget all about that? (We didn’t!)

Nothing was promised, but it’s a bit odd that E3 has come and gone with no mention of Donkey Kong. It’s been over seven years since Tropical Freeze, the last new Donkey Kong game, released. It’s time for something new!

But there was no announcement during the Nintendo Direct at E3. Will something be announced later in the year for the anniversary? There’s still time, but Nintendo’s holiday season is starting to get packed with releases. If they’re planning on announcing something to celebrate Donkey Kong, they better get on it.
