Before we figure out how to get coal, it is important to realize why you’ll need it. First and foremost, this item is used for production and power output.

More often than not, players will use this resource as fuel for smelting, vehicles, generators, and steel production. When used in a generator, it burns for four seconds.

Now that you know a little more about why to use it, let’s talk about the handful of ways you can get it.

How to Get Coal in Satisfactory

Though coal is pretty easy to find and is recognizable, there are a few different ways to go about getting it.

The first way to get coal is to harvest it by hand out in the world. Simply approach the jet black resource and press E to mine it.

The most efficient way to get coal is by creating inexhaustible resource nodes. The Miners used on these extract resources automatically, so all you have to do is collect them once they’re extracted.

On top of all of that, tamed Lizard Doggos occasionally bring you coal as a present.

With all of that coal, there is nothing stopping you from being a production machine in Satisfactory.

Time needed: 3 minutes

To sum up how to get coal in Satisfactory:

  1. Pick it up when traversing the world with E.

  2. Create resource nodes that extract it automatically.

  3. Tame Lizard Doggos and they’ll bring it to you occasionally.
