Space Haven: How to Trade

How to Trade in Space Haven

Trading in Space Haven is fairly easy, or at least it is once you’ve reached a certain point in the game.

As you build up your space station, you’ll be able to craft new facilities, technologies and objects for use on your ship. One such technology is an Operations Station, which allows you to communicate with friendly or neutral vessels you come across as you make your way through the stars.

To build one, you’ll need some basic resources and crew members with construction skills. The exact number of each will be shown in the menu when you select the Station for construction. The necessary resources can be found by salvaging and exploring derelict ships, while your crew members’ skills can be checked by clicking on them at any time.

Once you have the necessary components and crew members, you can then choose to build the Operation Station. After it’s finished, you’ll automatically open communications with friendly vessels you pass and can choose the “Let’s Trade” option from their dialogue menus.

This will open a menu where you can select resources you need and offer those you currently have in exchange for funds or other resources. It’s worth noting, though, that certain resources will carry more value and more reliably get you what you need, so you should keep an eye on how much ships are offering for each of your resources before you decide to spend all of your money instead.

After that, all you need to do is confirm the trade and the resources will be exchanged automatically.

Time needed: 3 minutes

So, to recap how to trade in Space Haven:

  1. Build an Operations Station

This will require materials you can salvage from derelict ships and crew members capable of constructing new facilities or technologies. The necessary requirements can be seen by selecting the Operations Station in the crafting menu.

  2. Wait until you encounter a friendly or neutral ship

So long as you have an Operations Station, you’ll be able to speak with them.

  3. Select the “Let’s Trade” option

From here, you can choose whether to send resources to said ships for funds or resources; or, if you’re in need of a certain resource, you can trade some of your own resources.

  4. Confirm the trade

Once you do, the resources will be exchanged automatically and anything you gained should show up in your inventory promptly.

Hopefully this cleared up how to trade in Space Haven. For more on the game, check out our guide on how to salvage materials from derelict ships.
