Unlocking All Secret Bosses in Final Fantasy 7 Remake

At the time of writing, we’ve only discovered three secret bosses that you can take on in the game, and two of them are only available in Hard Mode. This means that you’ll need to beat the main story at least once and play the relevant chapters on Hard Mode.

Bahamut

Bahamut is the final summon Materia you can get through Chadley’s VR missions, and you simply need to complete all of his Battle Intel quests to unlock this VR mission.

We’ve listed all the Battle Intel quests down below:

  • Monster Bio Pt. 1
  • Magic Elements Pt. 2
  • The Stagger Effect Pt. 1
  • The Stagger Effect Pt. 2
  • Combat Simulator: Shiva
  • Monster Bio Pt. 2
  • Magic Elements Pt. 2
  • The Manipulation Technique
  • Monster Variants Pt. 1
  • Combat Simulation: Fat Chocobo
  • Monster Bio Pt. 3
  • The Stagger Effect Pt. 3
  • Refocus Analysis
  • The Stagger Effect Pt. 4
  • Combat Simulation: Leviathan
  • Monster Bio Pt. 4
  • Weapon Abilities
  • MP Consumption
  • Monster Variant Pt. 2

Once you’ve cleared all the Battle Intel quests, talk to Chadley again to unlock the VR Mission for Bahamut.

Pride and Joy

Pride and Joy is a Hard Mode-only secret boss that you can take on in Final Fantasy 7 Remake.

To unlock this secret boss fight, you’ll need to clear every single battle challenge in the Corneo Colosseum. It’s highly recommended that you clear out Cloud and Aerith’s solo challenges at the Colosseum right after the Hell House fight, as you won’t have a chance to come back here with Aerith again for quite a long time.

Once you hit chapter 14 and get Tifa and Barret back into your party, this would be another good opportunity to hit up the Colosseum to clean up the remaining battles.

Finally, you also need to clear all combat simulation missions with the Shinra combat simulator at the Recreational Facility. Play chapter 16 to get back into Shinra HQ, clear all simulator missions, and you’ll unlock Pride and Joy at the simulator itself.

Remember to set it to Hard Mode for it to show up. This is one of the toughest secret bosses you’ll face, so prepare accordingly.

Malboro

Finally, Malboro is the last of the three secret bosses we’ve found in Final Fantasy 7 Remake so far. Unlike the other two secret bosses, the requirements for unlocking this one aren’t that strict at all, and you only need to clear the game once. After that, replay chapter 16 on Hard Mode and check the Shinra combat simulator for a new boss battle against this iconic monster.
