The latest season of content for Destiny 2 has brought with it a heap of new weapons and gear to unlock. One in particular, Tommy’s Matchbook, would make a fine addition to any player’s arsenal, and that’s why we’re here to walk you through how to get Tommy’s Matchbook in Destiny 2 as of Season of the Worthy.
How to Get Tommy’s Matchbook in Destiny 2
As it stands, there are two ways to get Tommy’s Matchbook in Destiny 2, and both methods depend on whether or not you have the Season Pass for the game.
The first method only works if you have the Season Pass. If you bought the Pass ahead of time, you can claim the weapon at Rank 1. This is done by selecting the Season tab from the Director and then selecting Tommy’s Matchbook to claim it and add it to your inventory.
From there, you can use it or keep it in your inventory as a trophy of your foresight at your leisure.
The other method is for those who don’t have Destiny 2’s Season Pass. If you’re one of these players, then you’ll need to reach Rank 35 in order to unlock Tommy’s Matchbook.
While more time-consuming than simply going to the Season tab and claiming the weapon immediately, this isn’t too hard to accomplish if you’re playing the game regularly; and specifically, completing bounties, which grant you tons of experience.
Play through the game as you usually would, and take on any bounties you can to raise your rank as quickly as possible. Before long, you should reach Rank 35 in the free track and be able to claim Tommy’s Matchbook as your own.
How to Get Tommy’s Matchbook in Destiny 2
- Season Pass Owners: Claim it from the seasons tab in the Director. It is the rank 1 reward.
- Non-Season Pass Owners: Reach level 35 in the free track of the season ranks and claim it from seasons tab.
Exotic Perk
As for what Tommy’s Matchbook does in Destiny 2, it offers a double-edged sword of a perk.
In exchange for dealing increased damage the longer you sustain fire, the weapon will overheat and deal damage to you. This can provide an interesting balancing act of risk and reward, and offer a new layer of challenge should you find your firefights wanting for challenge.
