Animal Crossing New Horizons: Are There Gyroids? Answered

Gyroids have long been a part of the Animal Crossing series. Alongside the NPC Gyroid character Lloid, these were also collectibles that would all make different noises and could be displayed in your home. With the series finally arriving on Nintendo Switch, some players are wondering if Gyroids are in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

Fortunately, Gyroids have returned in New Horizons through an update, even though they weren’t in the game at launch. Lloid does still seemingly pop up from time to time at construction sites on your island, and you will be able to get some of the many different variations you could in previous titles.

Thanks to the recent update, Gyroid Pieces can be dug up by interacting with the Xs on the ground that are usually hiding fossils and pitfalls. If you dig up a Gyroid, replant it, water it, then wait a day. When you return, a fully-grown Gyroid should be waiting for you. Though, if you’re lucky, you can also dig up fully-grown Gyroids instead of individual pieces.

Back when they weren’t in the game, there were rumors going around that a datamine revealed Gyroids were coming to the game, and this turned out to be true. It took a while, but they’re here as part of Animal Crossing: New Horizons 2.0. On top of that, Lloid will still be popping up every once in a while for bridges and slopes being constructed.
