In the course of the Moxxi’s Heist story the player will come across the first boss, Scraptrap Prime, during the One Man’s Treasure main quest. Beating Scraptrap Prime has the chance to drop the Lucky 7 pistol, but as with all Borderlands 3 legendaries it can come from any source, enemy or ammo/loot chest.
Stats and Perks
As you can see, this level 48 version of the Lucky 7 doesn’t really look like all that different from a normal Jakobs pistol around this level. However, its special ability is where it truly shines.
Reloading the Lucky 7 causes something close to slot machine rollers to the right of the gun with five slots of possible outcomes. Getting downed into Fight for Your Life or switching weapons away from the Lucky 7 causes the pistol to revert to its plain state which is usually designated by garbage cans with x’s over them on the slots.
One of these slots is type of bullet which can be explosive, normal, or whatever purple is. Also to be decided by the RNG is if the bullet will fire in a shotgun pattern like the Maggie, explosive shots like a Torgue weapon, or the usual/boring way. Being a Jakobs weapon, all critical shots ricochet, which turns the Lucky 7 into a truly awesome piece of weaponry.
On top of all this is the option to make this is the chance to make the Lucky 7 fire fully automatic, which tears through enemies like a wrecking ball. This pistol was practically made for Moze’s Bottomless Mags build because you can just stick to one of the Lucky 7’s good outcomes and not have to reload and lose it.
