Where to Find Bound Manacle in Destiny 2 Shadowkeep
Just like the other Essence items in Destiny 2 Shadowkeep, the Essence of Insanity requires you to complete activities on the Moon for one of its steps, but you’ll also need to look for a particular item to finish it off. Unlike the other Essence items, the Bound Manacle can’t just be picked up off the ground somewhere. It’s a reward for killing a specific enemy.
First, you’ll need to go to the Hellmouth area on the Moon, then follow the path leading down until you reach the Gatehouse. From there, look out for a pathway lit up by orange lights and go through to enter a new room where the enemy you need to kill will spawn.
All you need to do is kill the Hive enemies that have gathered here in order to get the boss to spawn. Once you’ve killed enough Hive, Erath’ur will spawn, and he’s basically a Hive Knight type enemy, and isn’t too hard to kill.
Once you’ve taken him down, he’ll drop the Bound Manacle that you need. Just pick up the item, and your Essence of Insanity quest step will be complete. Bring it back to the Lectern of Enchantment to turn it in, and you’ll be rewarded with the Love and Death Grenade Launcher.
Of course, if you don’t like the perks you got on your Grenade Launcher, you can always spend a Phantasmal Core to purchase the Essence of Insanity again and repeat the quest to re-roll the perks on the weapon.
