Encountered after restoring Ash’s Red Genie to its senses in Concrete Genie’s fifth Chapter, the Dark Yellow Genies are a bit faster than Reds and have more tricks up their sleeves that they can use in combat.

Key among them is the ability to erect a yellow barrier around them that can’t be damaged by your fire attacks, making it more difficult to take them down than their red-toned brothers.

How to Beat Dark Yellow Genies in Concrete Genie

Fortunately, you’ll have a new tool in your arsenal that you can use against them after encountering your first one: Electrical attacks, which can break down yellow barriers and stun Genies for good measure.

As such, the strategy for taking them down is simple: First, track one down. This should be easy, as you’ll automatically encounter Dark Genies as you make your way through the Chapter.

Next, attack it with Fire attacks to drain its health. This will weaken it and bring it closer to the phase where you can calm it down, though it will run around the area to avoid your attacks as much as possible.

As you attack it, the Genie will erect a yellow barrier at random intervals. When this happens, use your Electrical attacks to destroy the barrier and then continue to pummel it with Fire attacks.

If it starts to run around too much, you can also use your Electrical attacks to stun it temporarily and give you a window of opportunity to attack it.

Before long, it should be weakened enough for you to draw close and bring it to its senses.

Time needed: 10 minutes

So, to recap, follow these steps to beat Dark Yellow Genies:

  1. Find a Dark Yellow Genie.

You should encounter one by progressing through the area as part of the main story.

  2. Attack it with Fire attacks.

This will deplete its health and bring it closer to the stage where you can convince it to come back to its senses.

  3. Use Electrical attacks to break its barriers and stun it.

As you damage it, the Genie will erect a yellow barrier that blocks damage from fire attacks. This barrier can be broken with Electrical attacks. Likewise, you can use the Electrical attacks to stun the Genie if it’s moving around the area too much.

How Many Dark Yellow Genies Are There?

As for how many times you’ll need to implement this strategy in Concrete Genie, it’s not many at all.

You’ll only need to take down two Dark Yellow Genies during the main game. After that, you’ll be tasked with taking down the game’s Dark Wind Genies, which require a similar but slightly different strategy to overcome.

Hopefully this cleared up how to beat Dark Yellow Genies in Concrete Genie. For more on the game, check out our review as well as one of the title’s most recent trailers.
