For those who have played the game before, this should come as no surprise, but the Master Sword does not feature in Link’s Awakening. Because Link wakes up on the mysterious Koholint Island, the whole game has a bit of a mysterious and different vibe to the rest of the series.

As a result, the Master Sword itself doesn’t feature in Zelda Link’s Awakening, but that’s not to say that there’s not an island-themed spin on the legendary sword.

Link’s Awakening Seashell Sword – What It Is & How to Get It

The Seashell Sword is a powerful sword that’s twice the power of a level 1 sword in Link’s Awakening, basically meaning that it’ll kill enemies in half the amount of hits.

Additionally, the Seashell Sword has a Sword Beam ability that fires off a laser dealing half the damage of a standard sword swipe if it hits an enemy. To trigger this, Link must be at full hearts, though, so you’ll need to make sure you keep on top of this.

To unlock the Seashell Sword, players will have to head to the Seashell Mansion in Ukuku Prairie. You can’t just go in there and pick it up. Players will need to find a certain amount of Secret Seashells in Link’s Awakening before you’ll be able to obtain it.

In the original game, players needed to find 20 of 26 Secret Seashells before they could return to the Seashell Mansion and get the Seashell Sword. However, in Link’s Awakening on Switch, there are now more of these seashells to find, and we’ve yet to figure out the exact number.

Once we do have an exact number for you, we’ll update this post and let you know.

That’s everything you need to know on whether you can get the Master Sword in Zelda Link’s Awakening. For more tips, tricks, and guides, be sure to check out our Link’s Awakening Switch guide wiki, or search for Twinfinite. We’ve also listed some other helpful guides on the game down below.
