The king of the looter shooter genre is back with the release of Gearbox Software’s Borderlands 3 for PC and consoles this week. As you might’ve already expected, the game does indeed come with a nifty intro cutscene. If you’re hoping to skip cutscenes in Borderlands 3, we’ve got you covered. Here’s what you need to know.
Can You Skip Cutscenes in Borderlands 3?
The sad truth is, no. You cannot skip cutscenes in Borderlands 3. This includes the introductory cutscene, which means that if you wanted to change your character decision partway through the tutorial, you’ll need to restart the game and sit through that lengthy intro video again.
As far as we can tell, there’s no way to skip that video on consoles. If you’re on PC, however, there is a way to skip it, but be warned that it could potentially mess up your game files a little.
On PC, simply head into the game files and find the file titled MARCUS_INTRO. Then, rename it to MARCUS_INTRO Backup. This tip comes by way of the game’s subreddit, where players are expressing disdain towards the fact that cutscenes are unskippable in this game.
As far as the rest of the game goes, there are very few forced cutscenes like the introductory video, as most of the story is told through the conversations you have with the NPCs out in the world, and over the comm devices.
While there are a few other forced scenes, we haven’t been able to skip them either, so you’ll need to sit through them no matter what.
It’s great for a first-time experience, but can be a little frustrating if you’re planning on doing multiple playthroughs of the game and don’t want to have to sit through every little plot detail over again.
That’s all you need to know about skipping cutscenes in Borderlands 3. Be sure to check our Borderlands 3 guide wiki for more tips and information on the game.
