One important thing to note is that you won’t be able to unlock all the different colored runes right from the get-go in Destiny 2. Instead, you’ll need to spend Imperials to unlock perks for the Chalice of Opulence for the chance to obtain different colored runes when killing enemies in the game.
For instance, unlocking red runes requires you to purchase the Rune Compatibility I perk, and so on and so forth.
