Part of the fun of fighting games is unlocking new skins and costumes for characters, and Mortal Kombat 11 is no exception to this trend. That’s why we’re here to help you figure out how to get skins and change outfits in Mortal Kombat 11.

Like the games that preceded it, Mortal Kombat 11 allows players to change characters’ appearances with different skins and costumes. Some are simple color swaps, while others deck them out in entirely new duds and vestments.

They’re not available right off the bat though, and players will have to jump through a few hoops to unlock these alternate costumes for regular use.

How to Get New Skins and Outfits

To get new skins and change outfits, players simply need to play the game’s different modes. From the story mode and tutorial to unlocking chests in the Krypt, most every portion of the game offers ways to unlock different costumes for different characters.

How they’re unlocked varies from mode to mode though. While players only need to defeat enemies and progress through the main fights to unlock skins in story mode, they’ll need to amass a certain number of Koins to unlock skins from the Krypt.

Luckily, players also have a means of determining exactly what they’ll need to do to unlock a specific skin for a specific fighter.

How to See What You Need to Do to Unlock Specific Skins and Outfits

From Mortal Kombat 11’s main menu, go to the Kustomize option. Select it, and then open up the Characters tab to choose which character you want to customize.

Players can then toggle over to the Cosmetics tab by pressing the R1 or RB button depending on which console they’re playing on. Once they do, they can select the Skins option.

From here, players can view every costume’s unlock conditions, including which mode they need to play through to unlock it. Likewise, they can equip any they’ve unlocked by toggling over to them and pressing the X or A button.

This can be done whenever the player likes, so it’s advised to use it freely while trying to unlock new skins.
