How to Change Weapons in Days Gone
Days Gone drops you right into the middle of a dangerous open world filled with countless things that want to kill you, from Freakers and bears, to other humans. Luckily, you have plenty of weapons and tools to help defend yourself in this hostile world. Here’s how to change weapons in Days Gone.
Changing Weapons
There are three basic types of weapons that you’ll be using in Days Gone; primary weapons like assault rifles, secondary like pistols, and special like the crossbow. You can take one of each of these weapons with you at any given time, and swap between them on the fly.
If you just want to quickly swap a weapon, all you need to do is tap the triangle, which will cycle between your primary, secondary, and special weapons in order. The quick swap is good to keep in mind when you’re in the thick of battle, being charged by a horde of Freakers.
You can also change weapons by holding down L1 to bring up the survival wheel, then using the right stick to select the weapon you want.
Swapping Out Weapons
If you’re looking to change out your weapons for something new, you have a couple of different options. You can pick up any weapons you find in the world, or drop off of enemies, by holding down square.
Just keep in mind you can only hold one of each weapon type at any given time, so if you have a primary weapon equipped and try to pick up an assault rifle, you’ll drop your primary weapon.
Outside of that, you can store weapons in weapon lockers, which will then let you take it out of any weapon locker at any time. Weapon lockers can be found scattered around the world, usually in areas where you have important missions. You can also find them at encampments, and there’s always one at your safe house.
Altering Weapons
At points in Days Gone you might have the option of altering certain weapons with items you find. For example, you can equip silencers you find on any of your guns. If you have a silencer, open up your survival wheel with L1 then select the weapon you want and press R1 to equip the silencer.
You can open the wheel and press R1 again to unequip it.
