The Dead or Alive series has returned to our screens once again with its sixth numbered entry. Dead or Alive 6 brings an iconic roster of characters to the ring and has you battle it out once more. Of course, part of the appeal with these games is changing your character’s costume. Here’s how to get costumes and change into them in Dead or Alive 6.

How to Get Costume Parts & Unlock Costumes in Dead or Alive 6

Essentially, getting clothes and outfits in Dead or Alive 6 is done through the DOA Quest mode. This can be found right on the main menu below the ‘Story’ option. Within this mode, you’ll be put into a fight with a pre-selected character and opponent and are tasked with completing all of the ‘Missions’ (Stars).

Each quest in Dead or Alive 6’s DOA Quest mode has three missions to complete. One of these is always to simply defeat your opponent. The other two are random, however, and may task you with inflicting 35 damage with a single combo, or performing one ground attack.

If you complete all three of these missions in a quest, you’ll get Costume Parts. No prizes for guessing what these are used to unlock in Dead or Alive 6. That’s right… costumes!

Each quest you fully complete all of the missions for in DOA Quest will reward you with Costume Parts for a specific character and specific costume. For example, completing the second DOA Quest granted us Honoka’s Costume 15. Dead or Alive 6 tells you this once you’ve unlocked the Costume Parts for that particular quest.

Not all costumes can simply be obtained by completing one quest in DOA Quest. Some outfits for certain characters may require 1,000 Costume Parts which are split across, say, three different quests. As such, if you want to get all costumes in Dead or Alive 6, you’ll need to complete all of the missions for every quest in this mode.

How to Equip Costumes

Once you’ve unlocked all parts for a particular costume, the game will bring up a notification informing you of the particular outfit you’ve unlocked.

To get and equip your new threads, return to the main menu and then select the ‘DOA Central’ option. Now, select ‘Wardrobe’ and you’ll see the entire roster of characters. Simply select the character you’ve just unlocked the outfit for, and select one of the 10 different slots.

Next, press X /A twice and you’ll then be able to scroll down until you find the costume you’ve unlocked. If you’re having trouble finding it, keep an eye out for the one that doesn’t have a blueprint icon next to it.

You should see that it has the Coins icon next to it. Sadly, getting the Costume Parts isn’t enough to unlock them in Dead or Alive 6. You need to buy them as well. As long as you’ve got enough Coins, simply press X or A to confirm your purchase.

You’ll then be asked by an in-game notification if you want to equip your new outfit. Simply select ‘Yes’ or ‘No’ depending on your preference and you’ll be all done.
