Your adventure across continents in Metro Exodus isn’t going to be an easy ride, with plenty of human and non-human enemies baying for your blood. Medkits, therefore, are an essential item to have in your inventory at all times. Here’s how to get Medkits in Metro Exodus, and how to heal.

The first way to get Medkits in Metro Exodus is by simply finding them around the world. However, it’s not the most reliable way to keep your supply of them topped up. They’re pretty rare, so the best way to get Medkits is to simply craft them yourself.

How to Craft Medkits in Metro Exodus

You can craft Medkits either at Crafting Tables which can be found in bases, the Aurora, and just generally scattered throughout levels which you’ll be led to as part of the story. Simply interact with these, or use your Portable Backpack by holding R1/ RB and X/ A to bring up the crafting menu.

From here, you should see Medkits right at the top of the page. You’ll need five Metal Components and 20 Chemical Materials to craft one Medkit. If you have these materials, simply press X/ A while the Medkit is selected in the crafting menu to make one up.

How to Get the Crafting Materials

You get a fair amount of these different materials by completing missions, but they can also be found on tables. Chemical Materials, in particular, can be found in green glowing orbs on floors and cave walls in Metro Exodus, so be sure to keep an eye out.

How to Use Medkits & Heal in Metro Exodus

Now that you’re all stocked up, it’s time to put them to good use. There’s no actual health bar in Metro Exodus, so you just have to gauge how much damage you’ve taken from the blood around the screen. You’ll know you’re at full health when you cannot use a Medkit.

To use a Medkit in Metro Exodus, simply press up on the d-pad. Your health will then begin to regenerate slightly as you play. It is slow, though, so keep behind cover if you’re close to death until your screen is looking a little less grim!

That’s all you need to know about how to get Medkits in Metro Exodus, as well as information on how to use them. For more tips, tricks, and guides for Artyom’s journey out of the Metro tunnels, be sure to check out our ever-expanding guide wiki.
