Best Skills and Best Perks to Get First in Far Cry New Dawn

Recommended Videos

Just like past games in the series, Far Cry New Dawn features a skill tree where you can spend perk points to strengthen your character. Here are the best skills and best perks you should get first in Far Cry New Dawn.

Best Skills and Best Perks in Far Cry New Dawn – Advanced Takedowns, Expert Takedowns, Master Takedowns

  • Advanced: Lets you take down Rank II enemies. During a takedown, press R2 to throw melee a nearby enemy.
  • Expert: Lets you take down Rank III enemies. During a takedown, hold L2 and press R2 to shoot with your sidearm.
  • Master: Lets you take down Elite enemies. During a takedown, use the left stick to perform another takedown on an adjacent enemy.

Trust me, you’re definitely going to want to get the Master Takedown perk as soon as possible in Far Cry New Dawn, especially if you haven’t spent enough Ethanol on upgrading your Workbench and unlocking better weapons.

You’ll need to unlock the Advanced and Expert variants first before you can get the Master Takedown perk, but it’s definitely worth it. From Rank II onward, the enemies start to get tougher to kill with just firearms and the bow, so it’s in your best interest to try to be stealthy and take down enemies quietly.

Best Skills and Best Perks in Far Cry New Dawn – Covert

  • Decreases noise level when moving. Increases movement speed when crouched.

As always, the Covert perk continues to be one of the best skills you can get in Far Cry New Dawn. It allows you to crouch faster while moving, and it’s pretty much a must-have perk when you’re being stealthy and trying to liberate outposts.

Repair Torch

  • Adds the Repair Torch to the weapon wheel. Repairs vehicles, cracks open safes, and burns enemies.

Early on in Far Cry New Dawn, the Repair Torch perk can be very useful, especially if you’re spending a lot of time checking out Treasure Hunts. Even as you’re exploring, you’ll often find locked safes as well.

While you can purchase the Lockpicking ability to open these safes, it’s just better to get the Repair Torch instead. Aside from just opening safes, it also allows you to burn items and repair vehicles.

Best Skills and Best Perks in Far Cry New Dawn – Well-Armed, Heavily Armed

  • Unlocks third and fourth weapon slots.

Pretty self-explanatory. The more weapon slots you unlock, the more weapons you can carry in Far Cry New Dawn, and the more options you’ll have when in combat.

These should probably be your priority, alongside the Takedown perks.

More Medkits

  • Increases carry amount for Medkits.

Also pretty self-explanatory. You’ll start the game with just two Medkits, but you can carry more if you choose to invest more perk points into this perk.

Having three Medkits should be sufficient for the whole game on the default difficulty. You can carry even more, but you should probably put those points towards other skills instead.

And that’s all you need to know about the best skills and best perks to get first in Far Cry New Dawn. Be sure to search for Twinfinite or check our guide wiki for more tips and information on the game.
