What the Preload & Unlock Times for Anthem Are
Anthem is just around the corner and while some people will have to wait until Feb. 22, others will be able to jump in on Feb. 15. Here’s what the preload and unlock times for Anthem are.
Anthem is a games-as-a-service, third-person shooter, RPG coming from EA BioWare, the team traditionally behind the Mass Effect series. Taking serious cues from their RPG past, Anthem sees players engaging in Iron Man-like fights via Javelin suits while discovering a world BioWare claims is just as fleshed out as Mass Effect.
Only time will tell on that front. Fortunately, we won’t have to wait too long to know, though, and that’s because certain editions come out this Friday, Feb. 22, a full week before the standard release.
Before determining when you can preload the game and when your game will unlock, let’s take a look at the different versions available.
What Anthem Versions Are Available
- Full Game Access on Feb. 15: Origin Access Premier (PC)
- 10-Hour Trial on Feb. 15: EA Access (Xbox One) and Origin Access Basic (PC)
- These users will have access to the full game on Feb. 22
- Full Game on Feb. 22: Standard Editions and Legion of Dawn Editions (PC/PS4/Xbox One)
To ensure you’re able to jump into Anthem the second it becomes available, you should preload the game.
When You Can Preload
Right now, if you’re an Origin Access Premier (PC) member, you can begin preloading the game now. You’ll have access to the full game on Feb. 15.
If you’re an EA Access (Xbox One) or Origin Access Basic (PC) member, you can begin preloading the game now, too. You’ll be able to play 10 hours of the game on Feb. 15.
If you’ve purchased either the Standard edition or the Legion of Dawn edition on Xbox One or PC, you can begin preloading the game now.
While there is no official answer, users on EA forums say that the Xbox One preload is 36.42 GB.
Currently, there is no information concerning PS4 preload times for Standard editions or Legion of Dawn editions. We’ll be sure to update this post if we learn more.
When Anthem Unlocks
If you are able to play the game on Feb. 15 via the early access versions of the game, Anthem will unlock at midnight in your region.
If you are able to play the game on Feb. 22, Anthem will unlock at midnight in your region as well.
