How to Change Character Appearance in Anthem
Anthem, like many modern games, does have a wealth of customization options. However, there are many fans that are wondering whether they can customize or change character appearance in Anthem. Here’s what you need to know.
Your avatar in the world of Anthem is your Javelin. While there is a living-breathing person underneath the armor, and you can choose your gender at the start of the game to lock in a voice that you prefer, ultimately that’s where the character customization options end in Anthem.
However, again, that only goes for your actual character. You’re represented by your Javelin, and there are plenty of ways to customize that aspect of the game.
First off, like similar games such as Destiny, there are cosmetics that you can purchase, including sillier things like new dance emotes if you’re into that. Check out our emotes guide if that tickles your fancy.
We have a very detailed guide for how to customize your Javelin in Anthem that you should give a read which breaks down all of the various ways you can tweak your suit to fit not only your play style, but your personality as well.
While it might be odd that Anthem places so little emphasis on character appearance considering the rich history of Bioware, and how much of the spotlight your playable character grabs, it makes more sense if you think about what Anthem is.
Everything revolves around your Javelin, you’re pretty much nothing without it. You don’t have any spells or fighting skills ala Dragon Age or Biotics like in Mass Effect. You need to be in that suit in all times to really have any impact at all in this game’s world.
That does it for how to change character appearance in Anthem. Again, while your human (or whatever they are called in this universe) is going to be lacking, there’s little reason for your Javelin to not be decked out.
